Important Information Regarding Horizon Licensing and vSphere Infrastructure Licensing for Horizon (6000014)

  • The End User Computing Division's transition from Broadcom to Omnissa operational systems is complete, and we are in the process of normalizing operations on those new systems. We expect operations to be fully normalized in coming weeks.
  • During this transition period, customers should be aware of updated processes for obtaining licensing keys, including temporary keys, should they experience any impact to the operaton of their Horizon licenses.
  • The purpose of this KB is to outline the updated Horizon licensing processes, potential impacts and steps to take if you are impacted. These updates affect Horizon 8, Horizon Cloud, and the Horizon Control Plane platforms.
  • For Horizon customers, if you have any additional questions not answered here regarding vSphere licensing, you can now raise support request using the new EUC Customer Connect portal. This is the fastest and effective way to get your queries and issues addressed. Customer Connect URL: https://customerconnect.omnissa.com

Deprecation of Windows Update approval functionality in Workspace ONE UEM and Workspace ONE Intelligence (6000125)

  • We would like to inform you of an important upcoming change to our product, Workspace ONE UEM. As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance our services, we will be deprecating the Windows Update approval functionality. This functionality will be officially discontinued with the first release in 2025. This change is required due to the deprecation of this functionality by Microsoft.

The following page will be replaced:

Upcoming Changes to Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android (2024) (97418)

  • Note: The date for deprecated APIs going offline has been extended from June 20th, 2024 to September 20th, 2024.
  • On June 20th, 2023, Google announced the deprecation of several APIs used by applications to integrate with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), the default push notification service used by Workspace ONE UEM to communicate with Intelligent Hub on Android. Google will begin taking the deprecated APIs offline later this year. By September 20th, 2024, organizations may need to update Workspace ONE UEM are required to continue using FCM for real-time device management.
  • Workspace ONE UEM uses push notification services to allow organizations to manage their Android devices in real time. This means that if a device is online, administrators can take actions through the UEM Console lock it, clear its passcode, or install an application. When an administrative action is taken, Workspace ONE UEM sends a push notification to Intelligent Hub, prompting it to check in immediately to Workspace ONE UEM to process the action. The same occurs when an administrator pushes an application or profile to a device. Without push notification services, Intelligent Hub would only process actions during its regularly-scheduled check-in intervals.

Certain Smartcards do not function due to an incompatibility with newer windows crypto modules in Horizon 8.4 and later (90634)

  • Certain smartcard readers cannot initiate Single Sign-on (SSO) with Horizon Agent 8.4 and later.
  • A "Is the card Inserted?" prompt may appear.
  • Manual entry of username and password is required to complete login.

A restart of the Horizon Agent WSNM service causes session inconsistency (91251)

  • A WSNM service restart is observed in the window application event viewer logs similar to the below:
Event ID : 10002
Level : Information
General Message: Shutting down application or service 'VMware Horizon View Agent'.
  •     End User sessions get locked unexpectedly.
  •     Within the Horizon Administration console, the machine may report as not available with a status of protocol error or overlapped requests.

Horizon 8 on Amazon WorkSpaces Core fails to delete desktop pool (6000120)

  • When an AWS pool is selected for deletion, and “Delete VMs from disk” is selected, you may receive an error message banner rather than confirmation of the deletion under the following conditions:
  • If the pool for which the pool provisioning is disabled during the Add pool flow or the pool is deleted prior to a machine creation in AWS.
  • In general, if there are no machines associated to a desktop pool and pool is opted for deletion in the disk, the pool deletion fails.

Mobile apps deployed via Freestyle Workflows in UEM require an on-demand direct assignment (6000126)

  • For the Limited Availability of Freestyle for Mobile (Android & iOS), admins must define a corresponding on-demand assignment before deploying applications via workflow. This is a temporary workaround, and we are working towards removing this requirement for the General Availability.
  • Here are the steps you must follow for each application before deploying through a workflow.
