New Omnissa Horizon 8 features supported by Amazon WorkSpaces Core

  • Omnissa, formerly VMware, announced new features for Horizon 8 in version 2406. With this announcement, Horizon 8 virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) customers can take advantage of these features using Amazon WorkSpaces Core: Reduce costs, improve security, and optimize user productivity with new automated provisioning enhancements and power management features. With this announcement, you can reduce time writing scripts and further optimize infrastructure costs.

Horizon 2111.3 ESB

  • Horizon 8 version 2111.3 is an ESB release which includes bug fixes on top of the Horizon 2111 release. Approximately once a year, one Horizon release is designated as an Extended Service Branch (ESB). An ESB is a parallel release branch to the existing Current Releases (CR) of the product. By choosing to deploy an ESB customers receive periodic service packs (SP) updates which include cumulative critical bug fixes and security fixes. Customers can rely on a stable Horizon platform for their critical deployments. For more information on the ESB and the Horizon versions that have been designated an ESB, see Omnissa Knowledge Base (KB) article 86477.
  • WARNING: This Microsoft security update (KB5014754) will impact customers using certificate-based authentication such as smartcards. If you have applied this update to your Windows OS and if you have not mapped certificates to one of the strong mapping types described in the Microsoft KB, then users will be denied authentication when the full enforcement mode is activated by Microsoft, currently planned for November 2023. To address this issue the Horizon 8 2111.3 release allows administrators to configure certificate mappings to one of the strong types from the Horizon console. If you are using certificate-based authentication, then we recommend that you upgrade to this release to configure certificate mappings. See Omnissa KB 91595 for details.
  • See the Resolved Issues section for details on bug fixes.

Experience Management 24.07 for Windows

  • This version of Experience Management for Windows adds support to collect the following data.
    • Current hard drive capacity (GB) including max capacity and used percentage-space remaining
    • GPU memory information including GPU memory (designed and used) and GPU make and model
    • Device-level power usage and consumption

Experience Management for macOS Release Notes

  • Experience Management for macoS now collects LAN and WAN latency data for Mac devices.
  • You can now disable Experience Management for macOS locally on Mac devices.
  • We’ve integrated the Logger into in-session apps, and it now supports multiple session logging.

Workspace ONE Intelligence 24.08.26

  • Some UEM Workflow Connector actions now prompt device platform support in Freestyle.
    • When selecting certain UEM Workflow Connector actions, the console displays a message to indicate the action is only applicable for certain device platforms.
    • Selecting the message adds the Device Platform filter, and you can further narrow down the platform selection to fit your desired automation use case.

Workspace ONE Hub Services September 2024

  • Notification Deletion Now Available for Hub Services Admins

The Hub Services admin console now includes the ability for admins to delete previously sent notifications. Admins with super admin role can utilize this feature to remove notifications that were sent in error, contained incorrect information, or were distributed with ill intent. This deletion functionality ensures that admins can quickly and effectively retract messages that should no longer be visible to end-users, thereby maintaining the accuracy and integrity of communication within the platform.

  • Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub App Now Visible in the Hub Services App Catalog

The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app, when assigned through Workspace ONE UEM, will now be displayed in the Hub Services app catalog. Previously, the Intelligent Hub app did not appear in the catalog, limiting visibility to end-users. With this update, users can manually trigger updates to the Hub app, which is especially useful if there are issues with auto-pushed updates.

If admins prefer to revert to the previous behavior where the Hub app is hidden from end-users, they can utilize the Exclude Apps functionality to remove it from view. For more details on that, refer to the documentation topic Selectively Exclude Apps From Users in Intelligent Hub Catalog.

Horizon Connection Server

  • This release of Horizon Connection Server includes Apache Tomcat 9.0.91.

  • Users working in applications or desktops are disconnected

  • Similar log lines are observed in the Unified Access Gateway (UAG) esmanager log:

Too many connections opened for session: 9a56910b-df55-43f9-8f43-eb91866bb89a, max channels allowed:
