KB Highlights & Announcements Week 40-24:

Live from Omnissa ONE: Update on UEM modern architecture, enhancements for persistent virtual desktops, and coming beta for Omni AI Assistant

  • Today Omnissa is wrapping up our very first customer conference in the US. The energy and engagement have been fantastic, and we’ve received great feedback on our innovations and product updates. We’re excited to announce several product innovations that reflect our continued investment in the Omnissa Platform and our focus as a standalone company.
  • At the forefront of these innovations is Omni AI Assistant which is designed to transform how admins interact with IT environments. Additional highlights include our modern SaaS architecture for Workspace ONE® UEM for greater scalability and resiliency, plus our Horizon® 8 2406 innovations for persistent virtual desktops to simplify management and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • We are also sharing updates on Apple declarative device management, DEX Playbooks to increase helpdesk efficiency, our upcoming Vulnerability Defense capabilities, and next-gen Trust Network.

Workspace ONE UEM – Modern SaaS Architecture Rollout (6000206)

  • Workspace ONE UEM has undergone a complete re-architecture to modernize the platform using microservices and containers to enable increased scalability and performance and increase the rate of innovation. Now after having conducted significant and careful testing, these architecture updates, including the new Modern Stack, will be deployed to UEM SaaS environments over the next several months.
  • Modern Stack in tandem with UEM version 24.06 will unlock a long awaited and exciting new set of features including Resource Delivery Optimizations, Windows Multi-User, and Apple Declarative Management for iOS. Note that this is the initial deployment phase for Shared SaaS. This KB article will continue to be updated as more SaaS environments are enabled or if there are any other modifications to the rollout targets.
  • With that we are excited to announce that additional environments have completed the Modern SaaS architecture enablement and can now leverage the new features that Workspace ONE UEM has to offer. This list will continuously receive updates as additional environments are onboarded so don’t forget to check back as we progress forward through these environments!

EULA prompted in SSP portal unenrolls devices when declined (6000216)

  • Workspace ONE UEM enrollment settings offer a way to enable an Enrollment Terms of Use (EULA), specific to enrollment purposes. Admins can also ‘Require Enrollment Terms of Use Acceptance.”  Not only can users get prompted the EULA upon enrollment on their device, but they can also be prompted the EULA when logging into the Self-Service Portal (SSP).
  • If a user has a role that enable them access to the SSP portal, they may be prompted the EULA upon login. If a user ‘Declines’ the EULA when prompted in the SSP portal, this triggers all devices enrolled and assigned to the user to be automatically enterprise wiped to become unenrolled.
  • This is especially important for users with numerous devices assigned to one user, such as multi-staging users, as all the devices can be unenrolled in an instance if the EULA is declined in the SSP portal.

Device Ownership Not Automatically Updated in Entra ID for Windows Multi-User Devices (6000204)

  • With the introduction of the Windows Multi-User feature in Workspace ONE UEM 24.06, the following issue has been identified:
    • Azure Active Directory (now known as Entra ID) does not automatically update the device owner when a new user logs into a device enrolled through Workspace ONE UEM.
    • The device remains associated with the original user who enrolled the device, even if other users have subsequently logged in.
    • The original user continues to see the device listed under their ownership in the Entra ID self-service portal.
    • This could lead to confusion as the user might believe the device is still theirs and may inadvertently perform actions such as marking the device as stolen.

Workspace ONE SDK failing to initialise when iOS device upgraded to iOS 18 (6000211)

  • In versions 24.04 and below, the Workspace ONE SDK integrated app fails to initialize after mobile devices are upgraded to iOS 18. As a result, users may be unable to use app features that rely on Workspace ONE SDK integration on iOS 18.
  • The product team has released a fix for this issue, and the fix is available in Workspace ONE SDK version 24.06 and later. Apps encountering this problem need to upgrade to SDK version 24.06. We strongly recommend customers update their apps to Workspace ONE SDK 24.06+ for compatibility with iOS 18. However, apps using SDK version 24.04 or below will continue to function on devices running iOS 17 and earlier.

Omnissa Horizon Agent Reinstallation Process (6000210)

  • Best practice for Omnissa Horizon Agent reinstallation.

Persistent VDI Horizon Agent Installation Failure (Error 1603) (6000207)

  • Unable to install Horizon agent on full clones with error 1603.
  • Horizon agent installation rollback when installing PCoIP module 'pcoip_perf_provider64.dll' .
