Weekly highlight: - We have switched from using Azure Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) to Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) within the service.
- A certificate can now be used as the credential when connecting the Edge Gateway to a Horizon Connection Server. This certificate must be in .pfx format and we recommend password protection be used.
- Desktops and Applications
- Multiple users can now be assigned to a single dedicated desktop VM. This allows all of the assigned users to access the desktop individually. Only a single user can be connected to a multi-assigned desktop at one time.
- Administrators can now perform a reinstall of the Horizon Agent on dedicated desktop VMs when a Horizon Agent update fails.
- Help Desk is now available for cloud-connected Horizon 8 Edges. Administrators can search for active sessions and entitlements for specific users, view session details, and address VM-related issues.

Workspace ONE Boxer for iOS 23.07 - RSVP from email hero card redesign
- Users can now respond to their meeting invites with ease, thanks to a new, streamlined interface.
- Meeting invites are now displayed directly in the visual scheduler, along with the rest of your events. This makes it easy to see all of your upcoming meetings at a glance and respond to the invite accordingly.
- Users can now add reply messages at the same screen as the invite is. This makes it quick and easy to accept, decline, or tentatively accept an invite and add a message with a single click.

Workspace ONE Boxer for Android 23.07 - Quality improvements and crash fixes
VMware Horizon 2111.2 - VMware Horizon 8 version 2111.2 is an ESB release which includes bug fixes on top of the Horizon 2111 release. Approximately once a year, VMware designates one VMware Horizon release as an Extended Service Branch (ESB). An ESB is a parallel release branch to the existing Current Releases (CR) of the product. By choosing to deploy an ESB customers receive periodic service packs (SP) updates which include cumulative critical bug fixes and security fixes. Customers can rely on a stable Horizon platform for their critical deployments. For more information on the ESB and the Horizon versions that have been designated an ESB, see VMware Knowledge Base (KB) article 86477.
- WARNING: This Microsoft security update (KB5014754) will impact customers using certificate-based authentication such as smartcards. If you have applied this update to your Windows OS and if you have not mapped certificates to one of the strong mapping types described in the Microsoft KB, then users will be denied authentication when the full enforcement mode is activated by Microsoft, currently planned for November 2023. To address this issue the Horizon 8 2111.2 release allows administrators to configure certificate mappings to one of the strong types from the Horizon console. If you are using certificate-based authentication, then we recommend that you upgrade to this release to configure certificate mappings. See VMware KB 91595 for details.
- See the Resolved Issues section for details on bug fixes.
· - Horizon Console
- Administrators can configure certificate mappings from the Horizon console. This addresses the impact of Microsoft security update (KB5014754—Certificate-based authentication changes on Windows domain controllers) on customers using Certificate-Based Authentication such as Smart Cards. See VMware KB 91595 for details.
- Added support for SID-based Smart Card authentication.
- Horizon Connection Server
- Horizon Connection Server has been migrated from Azul OpenJDK to BellSoft OpenJDK.
- Security configuration setting balancedHost can now accept a list for those with more than one load balancer. The syntax is exactly the same as portalHost.
- Horizon Agent for Windows
- Horizon Agent for Windows has been migrated from Azul OpenJDK to BellSoft OpenJDK.
- Horizon Agent for Linux
- Horizon Agent for Linux has been migrated from Azul OpenJDK to BellSoft OpenJDK.

KB Highlights & Announcements Week 30:
Using Download action in Workspace ONE Marketplace Sensors/Scripts Templates (93512) - Sensors and scripts templates for popular and useful Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and Digital Employee Experience (DEX) solutions are available in Workspace ONE Marketplace Templates. After previewing the template details, the user can use the template by selecting the Deploy action, which validates the sensor or script before adding it to UEM. The user is transferred to the Scripts or Sensors page in the Devices section within Workspace ONE UEM (with Single Sign-On) where they can update the script or sensor as per business requirements before executing the sensor or script.
- However, users who do not access UEM through Workspace ONE Cloud Admin using Single Sign-On (SSO), do not see the Deploy action. These users need to use the Download Code option in the template’s Preview pane to download the script or sensor on their local machine and manually import them in UEM.
iOS Hub Enrollment Error - "Connection to the server could not be established" (93679) - While performing enrollment via the Hub application, an error pops up with the message "Connection to the server could not be established"
- This error may occur if you have a device record for the same device on the WorkspaceONE console in an enrolled state.
- Delete the enrolled record from the Workspace ONE console for your affected device and perform the enrollment steps again.
