VMware Identity Services 

Apr2023

  • New provisioning app for Azure Active Directory integration
    • We are excited to announce the availability of a new provisioning app, the VMware Identity Service app, in the Azure AD App Gallery! The app makes it easier for you to set up user provisioning from Azure AD to VMware Identity Services by including preconfigured settings.
    • To get started with your provisioning app, search for "VMware Identity Service" in the Azure AD App Gallery, then select the app.

 

 Horizon Cloud Service next-gen 2304 (April 2023)

  • Horizon Accelerator
    • Customers who have the Horizon Accelerator add-on SKU, can now get visibility into the provider resources that are used by their next-gen environment while at the same time avoiding the need to log into each provider's UI or portal and examine each individual resource.
  • Horizon Edge
    • Horizon 8 deployments in Azure VMware Solutions (AVS) using the All-In-SDDC architecture can be connected to Horizon Cloud Service next-gen for licensing and monitoring.
  • Horizon Universal Console
    • The activity log has been updated to provide additional information for system-initiated actions and events.
  • Horizon Gateway Appliances
    • Unified Access Gateways
      • For Microsoft Azure, the internal-only Unified Access Gateways are now deployed using a two-NIC configuration.
  • Desktops and Applications
    • Pools
      • When creating a pool, the disk size is automatically set to be the disk size of the image that has been selected.
    • Pool Groups
      • Pool groups now support the ability to configure Logoff disconnected sessions, Maximum session lifetime, Session timeout interval for single-session and multi-session pool groups, and Empty application session timeout for multi-session pool groups with published applications.
  • Image Management
    • Best practice documentation for manual Horizon Agent Install is now available in KB 91998 with command-line best practice configuration as well as optional install features.
  • Additional Supported Windows Image Versions
    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise, version 22H2
    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session, version 22H2
    • Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise, version 22H2
    • Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session, version 22H2
  • User Card & Search
    • Horizon Universal Console now supports the ability to search for users based on user ID, last name, first name or display name. When you type three or more letters in the search box, you get a list of users whose last name or first name or display name starts with those letters. When you choose a user from the list, you are redirected to the user sessions page.

 

Horizon Cloud Service 2303

  • New version of the Smartnode appliance OS - The smartnode is now based on a more recent version of the underlying appliance OS. The newer version allows us to continue providing security updates for the core services running on the Smartnode.
  • New Guest OS support - The new Smartnode version enables support for multiple Guest Operating Systems including Windows 10 Enterprise/Multisession 22H2 and Windows 11 Enterprise/Multisession 22H2.
  • Support for 3rd party IDP - Administrators can now configure and utilise 3rd party identity providers for end-users connecting via Universal Broker. This feature is currently being enabled only on demand.

Workspace ONE Hub Services Apr2023

  • End-Users can take Self-Service Actions on Their Devices in the Hub Support Tab
    • Admins can enable self-service device actions in the Employee Self-Service tab in the Hub Services console to allow users to manage their devices.
    • The newest device self-service action that can be enabled is
  • Critical Actions - Allow employees to perform the critical actions such as Delete Device, Enterprise Wipe
    • When enabled, in the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub app, end-users can view and take self-service actions to delete a device and to unenroll and remove all managed enterprise resources from the selected device. For example, users can delete their device if their device is lost or enterprise wipe their device to unenroll their device.
    • Note: This release is available on Hub Web and Windows platform. For other Hub platforms’ availability, please refer to their release notes. Workspace ONE UEM version 23.02 and later supports this feature.
  • Admins can Archive Notifications in the Hub Services Admin Console
    • Notifications in the Hub Services console now includes an Archived section. Super admins can take the action to archive notifications from the Active list to the new Archived list. Being able to move notifications from active to archived allows for more flexibility and better organization of active notifications. Archiving a notification will not affect the user’s notifications in their Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub pages. The archive action and archived section are only accessible to super admins. Expired notifications will automatically move to the Archived section in the console after 90 days.

Workspace ONE Content for iOS 23.04

  • Download files on priority when the download queue is occupied
  • ISCL-182464 - Image quality got degraded for photos taken from the camera in comparison with the previous App version
  • ISCL-182269 - Unable to load a specific Excel file due to insufficient memory

 

Workspace ONE Content for Android 23.04.

  • Allow users to upload images that are captured from the camera only, restricting users to upload files from device local storage.
  • ASCL- 178655 – Sometimes download does not start automatically for Managed contents when Download Type is set to Automatic

The Microsoft Enterprise SSO plug-in for Apple devices is now generally available

  • In Microsoft Intune, there's a Microsoft Enterprise SSO plug-in. This plug-in provides single sign-on (SSO) to iOS/iPadOS and macOS apps and websites that use Microsoft Azure AD for authentication.
  • This plug-in is now generally available (GA).
  • For more information about configuring the Microsoft Enterprise SSO plug-in for Apple devices in Intune, go to Microsoft Enterprise SSO plug-in in Microsoft Intune.

  • [Action Needed] - Refresh Old Android Enrollment QR Codes
    VMware is making changes to enhance the security posture of cloud-based endpoints related to this enrollment method on March 1st, 2023. As a result of this change enrollment using some older QR codes may fail. As a resolution, new QR codes will need to be generated as replacements for affected QR codes.
  • VMware Workspace ONE UEM New Control Plane SaaS Deployment Schedule (86243)
    Workspace ONE UEM has undergone a complete re-architecture to modernize the platform using microservices and containers to enable increased scalability and performance and increase the rate of innovation. Now after having conducted significant and careful testing, these architecture updates, including a new control plane, will be deployed to UEM SaaS environments over the next several weeks, with options available to on-premise customers after this roll-out (Later in 2022).
  • Support Access Policies for Customers with Expired SaaS EUC Licenses (89494)
    In alignment with VMware's Corporate Standards and those of the industry as a whole, VMware customers who have purchased SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) licenses for EUC (End-User Computing) products can expect the behavior outlined in the KB regarding Support access when their subscription has a status of Active Pending Cancellation or Expired/Cancelled.

Workspace ONE Content 23.05 for iOS

  • Ability to delete the local draft changes made to the file. This change will help users to revert the file with draft changes to the original file.
  • Support for Background Download in Managed Content [Beta Only] - This feature will allow users to download files in the Content app while they work with some other app. In other words, when the Content app is pushed to the background, downloads will continue to happen in the app. (Kindly refer to the PDF available in Tester Resources section for more information.)

  • Improved the Favicon fetch request in order not to fail on custom servers
  • User Agent modification for Web

WS1 Intelligent Hub 23.04 for iOS

  • Configuration to hide Apps and Favorites Tab: Admins can now hide the Apps and/or Favorites tab in the Hub app if their use-case requires it, which was not supported earlier.
  • Ability to fetch Encryption Recovery Key from Hub App: Users can now obtain the recovery key from Hub Support tab to unlock their desktop devices.

WS1 Intelligent Hub 23.04 for Android

  • Support for management of Zebra devices on Android 13
  • Configuration to hide Apps and Favorites Tab: Admins can now hide the Apps and/or Favorites tab in the Hub Android app if their use-case requires it, which was not supported earlier.
  • Additional Device Attributes: The end users can now view additional device information like device model, device name, enrolment date, etc. for each of their enrolled devices from the device details screen. This features make it easy for the end users to share this information with their IT support when diagnosing/debugging an issue.
  • Ability to Install Web Clips: Hub apps catalog now supports installing a web clip on to the user's device for faster access to the web application.
